Why is Ethno-Federalism a poison for EPDP ?
Recently, Mr. Mesfin Hagos was interviewed on various issues, including the "BIHER" that he denies its existence. Why is EPDP so allergic on Ethno federalism? Why does he refuse adamantly to recognize that the Eritrean society is made up of nine ethnic groups? Since the era of ELF-RC '(Actually EPDP) opposed the ENA Charter, article 3-4, Ethnic and Religious based Organisations. Why was all this? The EPDP continuous refusal of ethno federalism is apparently contra-productive.
Mr. Mesfin Hagos and EPDP repudiate to accept that in Eritrea there are nine ethnic groups with different cultures, languages, regions, religions and Beliefs?
1 .- Tigrigna ethnic group has its own language, culture, religion and customs and traditional including three regions Hamasien, Akele Guza and Seraé.
2 .- Beni-Amer and Hadarb (Barka)
3 .- Kunama and Nara (Gash-Setit) Sona-Tika
4 .- Afar, Dankalia-Read Sea
6 .- Bilen, mensae (Senhit)
7 .- Saho (Semhar) is a mixture of several ethnic groups including those of the Sahel, and Rashayda)
So what authority does EPDP has to repudiate and ignore the rights of ethnic self determination? Majority of EDA respects and accepts ethno federalism except EPDP. The problem of EPDP is power greed, to maintain using again the Isayas Afwerki´s formula of hegemonic culture over ethnic groups technically exercising Tigrinya dominated ethnocratic rule.
Opposing Biher and federalism is the direct formula of Isayas opposing the basic human rights. Going against the will of the people did not benefit Isayas Afeworki. Eritrean Ethnic groups are only asking their basic human rights. Democracy, peace, mutual respect and regional autonomy.
If all these basic human rights are deprived no peace will prevail in our country. Any human being can fight to death until it gets its rights. This was why all Eritreans fought for their independence for thirty years.
So Mr. Mesfin Hagos and his followers have to bear in mind is that any ethnic group or groups of people can fight for their fate demanding the best choice.
Mr. Mesfin Hagos, is there in any book written that Eritrea should be dominated by Tigrini? The Tigrigna majority that you are boasting, in proportion you are minority to the 8 ethnic groups. With your infinite arrogance Tigrigna ethnic group is hated by all ethnic groups of Eritrea. We realize that opposing federalism is creating a disaster.
Denying ethnicity may mean either complexity or a technique to oppress the minorities in the name of unity. We Kunama, Afar, Saho, Blen, Beni-Amer etc are proud of our ethnicity.
Thus, the tone makes the music, Mr.Mesfin Hagos is ignoring the voice of 8 ethnic groups that make up Eritrea, which means that you deny your Biher Tigrigna identity. Your refusal to the ethno-federalism is your terrible fear of loss to subjugate other ethnic groups. With federalism, Tigrigna self elected dominance will perish definitively. Eritrea needs a secular non- military regime. The dictator is a military that is increasingly demanding power and subjugate their people. Example, in Africa, Mobutu of Kongo Zaire, Idi Amin Dada of Uganda, Hosni Mubarek of Egypt, Sir Gaddafi of Libya, Mengistu Hailemariam of Ethiopia, Isayas Afwerki of Eritrea etc were all from military junta. The needed results of these schemes is an endless suffering of their people, hunger, imprisonments, torture, terrorize, clandestinely killing, stealing the assets of people and impoverish the high exponent. Mr. Mesfin Hagos, you have been Tegadalai with Isayas and then Defence Minister of Eritrea. With what subjects you want to blind the Eritrean people by saying that "BIHER-ETHNIC" does not exist in Eritrea? Are you not Biher Tigrigna? Your leadership and dominance on the 8 ethnic groups is now over. We are now raising our heads and very ready to fight for our rights and we will not stop until we get our self determination. After Isayas military junta we can not expect another Isayas. If we need peaceful coexistence among Eritrean ethnic groups you Mr. Mesfin have to stop preaching against ethnicity. Enough is enough no Dictator and no Tigrigna dominance in Eritrea any more. The Eritrean people ambition is a President who is loyal and sincere conscious that keeps the Eritrean people without religious and ethnic segregation. It is now too late for Tigrinya autocrats to deceive any Eritrean Ethnic group in the name of HADE HIZBI and HADE LIBBI.
The formula of the old timer Mesfun is no more functional at this current moment where Eritrean people are fed up of the songs of HIGDEF. All Eritrean ethnic groups will fight until they get their territorial and ethnic rights. We can not play hide and seek with Mesfin Hagos while Isayas Afwerki killing ethnic Eritreans on a daily basis. Why do you think Isayas selectively poisoned 26 innocent Kunama farmers to death? Do you think that the Kunama race will easily forget and forgive all these?
So far the EPDP philosophy of anti-ethno federalism and BIHER rights is not only dangerous but it will exacerbate the tensions between the 8 ethnic groups and Tigrinya highlanders.
The one who laughs first then the weeps last.
God save Eritrean societies from the new dictator.!
